By Ariba Shahid and Muhammad Waseem KARACHI, Feb 2 (Reuters) - Pakistan's decision to boycott its Twenty20 World Cup match against India has drawn widespread support from fans and administrators who hailed the move as a long-overdue stand in a rivalry in which sport and geopolitics have collided.

Changes are to be made to the Laws of Cricket to permit bats previously deemed illegal in an effort to make the game affordable for amateur players.
That's one of 73 changes coming to the Laws of cricket in October after the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) announced the changes. It is the first major update made by the custodians of the Laws since 2022, driven by the need to ensure they are 'fit for the modern game' and 'inclusive for all'.
But the MCC announced on Tuesday that play will now continue until all remaining deliveries are bowled. The Laws sub-committee said the previous rule was unnecessarily robbing matches of "drama" by stopping play and not making a new batter face the final few deliveries of the day's play.
MCC has announced 73 changes to the Laws of Cricket, including new rules on bats, balls and playing conditions. The new rules will be enforced from October 1, 2026.
Cricket bats previously deemed illegal for adult amateur players are to be permitted after a change in the law brought about by the rising cost of English willow.
The MCC also changed the Hit Wicket and Overthrow laws, among other revisions
